According to a new report, TikTok has added a new option for bulk comment deletion that will enable its users to improve user experience and to control it.
As explained by TikTok:
“People put their hearts and souls into creating and entertaining on TikTok, and we recognize how discouraging it can feel to receive unkind comments on videos. So we’re introducing the ability to delete multiple comments at once or report them for potentially violating our Community Guidelines. Accounts that post bullying or other negative comments can now be blocked in bulk, too. We hope this update helps creators feel more empowered over their experience on TikTok.”
You can select multiple comments to be actioned by long-pressing any comment or tapping the pencil icon in the upper left corner. To take action at once on up to 100 comments or accounts, rather than going through each one individually, this will reduce the time necessary to complete the deletion process and/or report process.
Featured as part of a continuous effort by TikTok to offer people greater tools to protect themselves inside of the app, and to provide better user experience, this is the latest in the company’s efforts. As well as comment filter and review tools, TikTok recently added new warning prompts on potentially offensive remarks within the viewing viewer, allowing users more control over what comments appear on their clips.
As a result of ongoing investigations into the potentially harmful effects of the app, regulators in various regions have examined claims related to child safety and video chats with predators.
There really is a need for more tools for this task. Even the app’s most popular user, Charli D’Amelio recently expressed her dissatisfaction with the app’s constant decline due to the constant flood of negative comments on her videos.
It will also serve as a disincentive for users who post negative replies if they have more ways to control that.
Global access to these new bulk comment action tools should be available within the next few weeks.
