Google Search Console Performance Report Gains Practice Problems

Google Search Console now includes practice problems reports

Google has announced new additions to Search Console’s performance report in the form of rich results for practice problems.

When you filter the search appearance report using the “impressions, clicks, and click-through rates” field, you will now see the impressions, clicks, click-through rates, and other metrics.

It is important to note that the “practice problems” option will be visible only if your site shows rich results in Google for this content.

Google said on Twitter “following the Practice Problems Search Console enhancement report announcement a few weeks ago, today we’re adding this rich result as a search appearance on the Performance report to help you analyze its results.” Google explained this practice function as an “interactive feature that tests your knowledge of high school math, chemistry and physics topics directly on Search.”

Online educational content and Google:

Online educational content providers may want to take advantage of these new structured data types to increase their visibility in Google search results.

Adding these may increase the click-through rate on some of your snippets in the search results, which may result in more traffic to your website.

Similarly, if the answer is provided directly on Google’s site, fewer clicks are likely, but you can now track that within Search Console if they add that data to the performance report.

In the search results, Google was testing displaying practice homework problems. This feature is now available in Google Search and Google has provided improved structured data for educational websites and Search Console reporting to help determine which pages contain this content.

If you want Google to showcase the content on your site for these practice problems, you can add new structured data to your webpages.

“Relevance to the user – topicality, grade level, and curriculum standards – can be key considerations for users choosing what learning material to use.”

Google encourages its users to “add all of the recommended properties that are relevant for your content.”

Google search console updates:

In addition to new markup for math solver pages, Google said you can use structured data on math solver pages to make your site eligible to appear on Google Search when users enter a math equation.

To help you debug issues with both practice problems and math solver markup, Google has added new reports to the Google Search Console’s rich results status report.

In these reports, Google said that it would display “all errors, warnings, and valid items.”

In addition, Google now supports these two new structured data markups in its rich results testing tool.

It is possible to paste the URL of a website or your code snippet in this tool.

Online educational content providers may want to take advantage of these new structured data types to increase their visibility in Google search results.

You may gain more traffic to your site if you use these tips for some of your snippets appearing in search engine results.

Also, less clicks may be generated if the answer is solved directly on Google’s site, but you should be able to track that within Google Search Console if they add it to the performance report.
