Facebook is testing a new ‘Green Screen’ option for Facebook Stories. The new tool will allow users to add a video or still image as the background for their videos. It’s the same Green Screen effect available on Instagram Stories.
Earlier this month, Facebook rolled out the ability to create Reels (short video) on their platform. The social media giant also announced that it is testing a feature for Instagram content creators in India that lets them share Reels on their Facebook account. The Reel will also be recommended to users on Facebook if the content creator has a public account.
That could also open up new creative considerations for brands looking to add Facebook Stories into their content mix. Facebook Stories still doesn’t seem like a significant consideration, but its top of feed placement makes it a potentially valuable branding tool for those that can get it right.
This feature is currently in test, and there’s no word on when Facebook plans to roll it out to all users. With the latest test, the social media giant continues to push Facebook Stories, a product that hasn’t proven to be as successful as Instagram Stories. Facebook is also testing a new way for creators to earn revenue by placing ads as stickers in Stories.
New options like this only enhance that opportunity, and it’s worth considering the potential of such as they’re rolled out more broadly in the app.
There’s no word on a full roll-out of the option, but some users have access to the Green Screen option in Facebook Stories right now.
